After you make these, you will NEVER buy processed potatoes again!
- 6-8 baking potatoes, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch slices
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup New York Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Colby Jack Cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- cooking spray
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large pot or dutch oven, melt butter over medium/low heat. Add flour and whisk to combine. Continue to whisk until bubbly. Slowly add milk and whisk constantly to combine so there are no lumps. Bring to a boil, stirring VERY frequently to prevent scorching. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and paprika, stir until well combined. Slowly add cheese, stirring frequently and stir until all cheese is melted and sauce is bubbling. Remove from heat. Spray a 13×9 baking dish with cooking spray. Layer sliced potatoes in baking dish like shingles overlapping each other. Pour cheese sauce over potatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, until bubbly and potatoes are fork tender. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
