Homemade Hamburger Helper
The variations for this recipe are endless!

  • 1 lb gound sirloin
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 small yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper (green, yellow, orange or red) finely choppped
  • 1 tablespoons worstishire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 pkg frozen vegetables (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 package cooked egg noodles, rice or pasta (about 2 cups cooked)

Cook egg noodles according to package directions. In a large skillet, brown sirloin, onion, pepper & garlic. Add 1 3/4 cup beef broth, soy sauce, worteshire sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper. Bring to a boil. Mix remaining 1/4 cup beef broth and cornstarch. Slowly sitr into beef mixture. Continue to sitr until bubbly and thickened. Reduce heat to simmer. Add frozen vegitables and simmer 10 minutes. Add sour cream and stir until mixed and bubbly. Add egg noodles and  cook until heated through.

Mushroom Variation:
substitue 1 can of cream of mushroom soup for sour cream

Chicken Variation:
substitute 1 lb ground or chunk chicken for ground sirloin
substitute chicken broth for beef broth
Substitute 1 can cream of chicken soup for sour cream
omit worsteshire sauce and ketchup
add 1 teaspoon ground sage or poultry seasoning
